WARSAW — Three new downtown events were announced Thursday at the Main Street Warsaw 2030 Strategic Plan launch party.
The launch party was held at The Vic with at least 100 people in attendance. The three events include:
- Le Diner En Blanc will take place June 12, sponsored by G&G Excavating. Plans include an upscale dinner outdoors and a cocktail party in the courthouse lawn.
- Duck Cluck and Harvest Festival will be Sept. 13-14 and presented by Maple Leaf farms and Creighton Brothers
- A Downtown Fashion Weekend is scheduled for Oct. 4-5. It will feature four of the downtown boutique at 110 Craft Meatery. Sponsored by Toyota of Warsaw
The events stand out alongside other plans developed after a public meeting in August sought input on how to improve the downtown.
Downtown Development Director Terry Sweeney said they’re also working to expand the number of events that will feature entertainment including musicians and a local improve group.
Main Street Warsaw is also highlighting a series of Coffee Katch gatherings and a new Sip and Shop promotion in coordination with downtown merchants in the coming weeks.
Coffee Klatch will kick off on March 12 and feature music from local artists. Sip ‘n Shop Fridays will begin in April.
There’s also a new concerted effort to become a state-certified Indiana Cultural District, and an effort to amp up programming is being developed with help from the Public Arts Commission and a consulting firm.
On top of that, the downtown’s newest tenant, Lakeland Art Association, is moving to a new location on Buffalo Street south of the Gathering Place. A ribbon cutting is planned for March 7.
