FORT WAYNE — Throughout the past weekend, the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne Post conducted targeted patrols aimed at criminal activity and identifying and apprehending dangerous and impaired drivers across the district.
On Friday night in six hours, four Troopers in the Steuben County area wrote 30 warnings, 17 tickets, made five OWI arrests and filed 34 criminal charges, taking seven people to jail.
Criminal charges included possession of a controlled substance, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with alcohol, operating a vehicle while intoxicated with drugs, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle while never having received a license.
On Saturday during a four-hour period, eight Troopers working in Whitley and Allen Counties wrote 42 warnings, 15 tickets, made 7 criminal arrests (including 3 drug arrests), and 3 OWI arrests.
The Indiana State Police is unwavering in its commitment to promoting public and traffic safety. We will continue to conduct saturation patrols, a crucial part of our strategy to detect and apprehend impaired drivers and stop crime.
